Responding to comments from the boss of Edinburgh airport Gordon Dewar that plans for the rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine are "woefully inadequate", Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP, whose constituency contains the airport, said:
"Gordon Dewar is right to raise concerns that firms will go under before the vaccine has been distributed. If the Scottish Government get this wrong, businesses in my constituency and across the country will suffer.
"From the failure to provide a comprehensive test and trace system to the refusal to support airport testing, the Scottish Government has often acted too slowly or not at all when it comes to preventing the spread of the virus.
"The chaotic distribution of the flu vaccine this year also raises grim questions over the Scottish Government's ability to rollout a far more complex and extensive covid vaccine. Edinburgh Airport will not be the only ones desperately hoping for reassurance."
