"Like many local residents I was astonished to learn that plans have been submitted to Edinburgh Council for a new 'super village' of 1,200 houses next to Cramond.
"The plans would see a massive area of greenbelt land north of the River Almond opposite the Cramond Brig turned over to housing. It comes barely a year after local residents won the arguments against a major housing development at Cammo after fears over traffic gridlock, particularly at the Barnton junction.
"We have already been in touch with developers to express the many concerns we have with this proposal and understand there will be a community consultation event at some point in April - I'll let you know the details of this as I receive them.
"I was proud to stand with local residents against the Cammo housing development last year. We won the argument then on the basis that this development would lead to huge congestion at Barnton and unacceptable pressure on local amenities and services.
"I've already called for a total moratorium on new housing developments in north west Edinburgh and you can show your support for this by signing up to my 5 point plan to tackle congestion and pollution: www.alexcolehamilton.org.uk/pollution
