During today’s topical question session, Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP pressed the Health Secretary for answers on the effectiveness of contact tracing and the deep cleaning of sites Covid-19 infected people had visited.
Alex Cole-Hamilton commented:
“We know how infectious this virus is and that it can be transferred on hard surfaces with ease.
“It would be a sensible and reassuring move for the government to align the work of contact tracers and deep cleaning teams.
“In the early stages of this pandemic there were gaps in this process and the government must ensure cleaning procedures are robust as we begin to ease lockdown.
“The Health Secretary should set out what measures she is taking to ensure sites that covid positive people have visited are cleaned and sterilised to help protect others in the area."
