Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP today said patients were being left in pain after new figures showed just half of patients were seen within the NHS physio waiting time target.
Only 52.7% of the 67,176 patients who had a first clinical appointment with musculoskeletal (MSK) services during the quarter ending 31 March 2018 were seen within 4 weeks. The target is to achieve this for 90% of patients.
Mr Cole-Hamilton said:
“Many patients will be waiting in considerable pain yet no progress has been made towards meeting this target.
“Instead results have been stagnant for years, so either the SNP Government doesn't consider this a priority or their attempts to rectify it have had zero impact.
“NHS staff are working incredibly hard to see patients as quickly as possible but they are being sold short by a Health Secretary whose government seems content to spin their wheels.”
