Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP has today demanded the government "urgently" make sure vulnerable care home residents have access to the flu jab.
This comes after the Chief Executive of Scottish Care, Donald Macaskill, told Good Morning Scotland that he was "concerned" that the rollout of the flu jab has been "as poorly managed and as patchy as it is".
Alex Cole-Hamilton said:
“Patchy delivery of the flu jab to vulnerable residents of care homes across the country is completely unacceptable.
“In the first wave of this deadly pandemic, older people were badly let down and the government has seemingly failed to learn the lessons.
“Health officials stressed just weeks ago that covid and flu are an extremely dangerous combination. Now that we know the virus is on the rise again it is of the utmost importance that our elderly population are given access to the flu jab urgently.”
