Physio target missed again

Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesman Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP today said long waits for physio will be affecting people’s quality of life after it was revealed a waiting time target was once again missed by a huge margin.

New figures from ISD Scotland show less than 55% of patients referred for physical therapy, occupational therapy, chiropody/podiatry or orthotics were seen within the four-week waiting time target during the quarter ending June 2017.

Mr Cole-Hamilton commented:

"The Scottish Government has missed its target for musculoskeletal services yet again.

“Thousands of people are having to wait far longer than expected for the treatment they need.

"For those suffering from complaints and diseases in their joints, bones and muscles, this delay can have an impact upon their quality of life.

"Ministers need to explain why NHS staff don't have the resources and support they need to meet the target set by the Scottish Government and what action they will now take to turn this around."
