Commenting on the news that the opening of the Sick Kids hospital in Edinburgh could face further delays, Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP said:
"Since this hospital was initially supposed to open we've had two world cups, three general elections and four SNP health secretaries.
"At times like this it is extremely frustrating to see a multi-million pound custom built hospital sitting empty because of sloppy management and systematic failings during the construction process.
"The colossal costs of this project have been mounting for many months and the possibility of more delays means we still don't know what the final sum will be. We can't count the cost of these mistakes.
"The Scottish Government needs to ensure there is full transparency about how much money is poured into this project and how long it will take before the building is fully operational."
