Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP has today warned that the SNP Government's decision to close a children's ward at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley will be "a bitter blow to parents and campaigners" who have battled to keep facilities open.
Mr Cole-Hamilton MSP said:
"The news that inpatient and day case paediatrics will be transferred to Glasgow will come as a bitter blow to parents and campaigners who have fought valiantly to keep local facilities open.
"The people of Paisley have been let down by their MP and MSP. Mhairi Black and George Adam should be speaking out against the Health Secretary's decision, not toothlessly toeing the party line.
"Scottish Liberal Democrats will fight to ensure that NHS staff have the support and resources they need to deliver the best care and ensure that no area of the country is left behind."
