Responding to the Home Secretary’s announcement that EU citizens will have to answer there online questions to continue living in the UK, Edinburgh Western MSP Alex Cole-Hamilton said:
“Scotland is a nation of open and friendly people and that’s the spirit with which we should welcome those coming to our shores and those already here, eager to stay.
“The UK Government has a steep challenge ahead to convince people it is ready to be welcoming to immigrants, especially given its history with the Dubs amendment and the refugee crisis.
“If he wants to improve people’s confidence he extend EU applicants the legal right to request a copy of any information the Home Office holds on them if they wish to submit an appeal.”
“Let Scotland and the UK be a place of sanctuary for all those who need it.”
